Wednesday the 19th
Again, not a whole lot happened on Wednesday.
Graham did a bit more framing, including extending the railing to meet code.
He also framed for the bookshelves.
The building inspector was also here, and as far as I know everything is peachy. Tomorrow I will get to posting about today, and Friday, and the adventures in insulation.

That's cuz they're saving up for The Whammy, after you get the drywall taped ;-)
How are you going to finish out the rail? Our nearly-identical stairs have a metal, totally un-code rail that I plan on removing sometime soon. My only thought is that with the tight turnaround there, I don't want to cap it with anything featuring a sharp corner that protrudes. (Ouch! My elbow/ribs, etc.)
Also, I've been meaning to ask what you're going to do flooring-wise. Carpet, I suppose?
And just as a thought, I wonder if it's possible to install radiant-floor heating on a second floor? That would be pretty neat.
Jason,
I think the rail will likely be capped with wood trim.
Yes, we are going with carpet, and are in the process of choosing style and color now. Not sure about the radiant flooring, but I don't see why not, and yes that would be very cool, er, warm?
